LIVE ON ZOOM · TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 · 90 MINUTES · $25
Walk in with an idea. Walk out with your first chapter drafted and a plan for the rest of your book.
Your life story. An encouraging devotional. A romance novel. The story of your family. Whatever has been living in your head for years, we'll start it together, live, and you'll leave with real pages written and a clear map for the rest.
Then keep going, one chapter at a time, and give your family a gift this Christmas they'll keep for generations.
10:00 AM Alaska · 11:00 AM Pacific · 1:00 PM Central · 2:00 PM Eastern
Can't make it live? Register anyway. The replay is yours for life.
You've carried the idea for years. The page is still blank.
Maybe it's the stories your grandmother told at the kitchen table. The hard season you made it through. The novel you've daydreamed on long drives. The lessons from a whole career that nobody has ever written down.
People keep telling you, "You should write a book." And part of you knows they're right.
It isn't that you have nothing to say. It's that nobody ever sat beside you and walked you through the first page. So you wait until you feel "ready," until you have more time, until you feel qualified.
On November 3, we stop waiting. You'll write your first chapter with me, live.
Have you always wanted to write...
Your life story
The memoir only you can write.
The story of your family
Before those stories are lost.
An encouraging devotional
Hope for someone's hard morning.
A romance novel
The love story you've daydreamed for years.
A children's book
For your grandchildren, or every child.
What you've learned
A career, a calling, or a hard-won lesson worth passing on.
Before we hang up, you'll have three things in hand
1. Your first chapter, drafted
The opening chapter of your book, the first story of your family history, or a complete devotional. Written in your own words during the workshop, not homework for later.
2. A plan for the rest of the book
Your big idea, your reader, and every chapter still to come, mapped on one page so you know exactly what to write next.
3. A path to Christmas
A simple writing rhythm to finish in time to print it and give it as a gift your family will keep for generations.
How we'll write it together
Short teaching. Long writing. You won't just take notes; you'll write in three timed sprints while I coach you through each part.
Find your idea and your one reader
We turn "someday I'll write a book" into one clear sentence: what you're writing, and who it's for.
Sprint 1: Write the opening
The moment, scene, or memory that pulls your reader in. You'll write it live.
Sprint 2: Write the heart of it
What happened, what it meant, and why it matters to the person reading.
Sprint 3: Write the ending, then read it aloud
Land your chapter well. Volunteers read their pages on the call. That moment alone is worth the $25.
YOUR TEACHER
Dr. Beau Abernathy
Beau writes books for people who don't like to read. He has written or co-authored 36 books (devotionals, novels, children's books, and books on grief and the mind), most of them from a remote corner of Alaska you can reach only by plane or ferry. Every one of them started as a single page.
He has taught writing at the University of Alaska for eleven years. He has also served as a teacher, principal, grant writer, and Assistant Superintendent in Texas and Alaska, helped start 11 churches in the U.S., Mexico, Costa Rica, and Japan, and co-authored books with the late Dr. Frank Minirth.
Your $25 seat includes bonuses to help you finish
- Lifetime access to the replay, so you can write along again anytime
- The One-Page Book Plan, the planning sheet we fill out live
- First-Draft Starter Templates for memoir, family history, devotional, and fiction
- The "Find Your Voice" Worksheet + AI Voice Prompt
- The Finish-by-Christmas Writing Calendar, a simple day-by-day plan from November 3 to the gift-giving deadline
The $25 price ends when the workshop does. After November 3, the replay alone is $37.
Questions
I'm not a writer. Is this for me?
Yes. This workshop is built for people who have never finished anything they started writing. If you can tell a friend a story over coffee, you can do this.
What will I actually have when we finish?
A drafted first chapter (or your first family story, or one complete devotional) written during three guided writing sprints, plus a one-page plan listing every chapter still to come. Rough is fine. Finished pages beat perfect plans.
What if I can't attend live?
Register anyway. You'll get the full replay for life plus every bonus, and you can write along at your own pace.
What should I bring?
Your idea, even if it's fuzzy, and something to write with: a notebook, a laptop, or your phone. The Zoom link comes in your confirmation email.
What kind of writing is this for?
Memoir, family history, devotionals, fiction, children's books, or the lessons of your life and work. If it's a story or a message you want someone to read, it fits.
Someone needs the book you haven't written yet.
