Help Me Put This Story Into a Child's Hands

Join the launch team for Jesus and the Great ANT March and receive a free digital copy to read before launch week. Teaching in a public school? You can choose the classroom edition, The Great ANT March, instead.

One mistake can become a very big story in a child's mind.

"I got that wrong" becomes "I'm no good at this." "They didn't invite me" becomes "Nobody likes me." And sometimes those thoughts keep marching long after the house is quiet.

I call them ANTs: Anxious Negative Thoughts. Little thoughts that can carry a worry much farther than the facts. In the story, Sam doesn't squash the ANTs. Sam learns to march them out, with five steps a child can remember:

Mark it · Ask, is it true? · Recall what's true · Capture the thought · Head it out!

Eight chapters, each followed by a practice page: a MARCH worksheet, reflection questions, and a discussion prompt for the grown-up reading along. A mistake doesn't have to become a child's identity. A frightening thought doesn't have to have the final word.

The Great ANT March
